According to Christianity Today, singer-songwriter Bodie Kuljian is adjusting to his evolving identity as a Christian artist following his 2022 performance on the television program The Voice. The 32-year-old performer, who records under the name bodie, began his independent career in 2017 focusing on electronic indie pop and experimental vocal arrangements.
Kuljian’s transition toward the contemporary Christian music industry followed his rendition of the song “Gratitude” during the season finale of the competition series. While the performance brought him mainstream recognition, it also shifted the expectations of his listener base. The artist stated that he had not originally intended to position himself within the Christian music genre.
The singer noted that his early independent work was characterized by a diverse mix of sounds rather than a specific religious label. Since his time on the show, however, the artist has seen an increase in bookings at faith-based events, including appearances at the Lovesick Festival. Despite this shift in industry alignment, Kuljian maintains that his creative process remains focused on his personal experiences and artistic growth.
Industry analysts observe that the path from mainstream reality television to the Christian music market is a recurring trend for artists who perform faith-themed songs during high-visibility broadcasts. Kuljian is currently working to balance his established electronic sound with the new audience expectations created by his viral performance.
“I just want to keep making music that feels honest to me,” said Kuljian.
The artist continues to produce new material independently while evaluating how to categorize his work for broader distribution. He remains active in the festival circuit and is scheduled to perform at several upcoming live music events throughout the remainder of the year. Representatives for the musician have not yet announced a release date for his next studio project.
